" There is in the possession of Lady Cotgrave, at Netherleigh House, near Chester, a pedigree drawn up by Randal Holme, in 1672, from the compilations of William Cam-den, in 1598, of the Cotgraves of Hargrave, containing the descents of three
generations of the Tuckers. "Sir Roger Cotgreave, Lord de Hargrave, Tarvien, and Tattenhall living temp. Richard 3rd and Henry 7"£ lineally descended from Thomas de Cotgreave, second son of William lo Belward Baron de Malpas in ye Countie of Chester by his wife Mabilia, daughter and co-beire of Robert Fitz-Uugh, Baron de Malpas temp.
William ye Conqueraire married Alice, daughter of Sir Edmund Gamal de Mollington in ye above named Countie and had issue Ralph, his heire, and Elinor, who espoused Richard Tucker de Halton in Cheshire and Sealyham in ye Countie of Pembroke son and heire of Thomas Tucker Esq' de Halton and Sealyham, by his wife Ursula, daughter of Robert del Holme Lord de Tranmure in ye first mentioned Countie, which

The armorial bearings of the Tucker family, as emblazoned in the Cotgrave Pedigree, are, — "1st Shield. The ancient arms of Tucker of Halton were " Ermine on a fesse Sable, a buckle Argent."
9 Owen Edwardes had issue by this marriage, John Edwaxdes of Trefgara, Esq., who married Anne, daughter of Thomas Birt ; their son was Owen Edwardes, married to Damaris, daughter of James Perrot, Esq. Its also interesting to note that Sir William Tucker was Seneschal to Hugh De Lacy (whom invaded Ireland):
Anno 1356, ye said Sir Owen was lineally descended from Sir William Tucker Sene-
schal to Hugh do Lacy, Constable of Chester and Baron do Halton temp Henry 2nd."

So, this line really goes back to around 1172'ish as that is when Sir William Tucker was Seneschal to Hugh De Lacy during Henry the 2nd's reign. Then around 1356 his descendant Sir Owen Tucker fought under the Black Prince. Interesting stuff indeed!
