We have James Tucker born in Halifax County, North Carolina on the 18th day of May 1759. His father was Robert Tucker who lived 8 miles from the Guilford Court House. during the revolution. So Robert was in Halifax in 1759 and moved 8 miles from Guilford County Courthouse. James live in Randolph County which is next to Guilford County. James served in his fathers place in the war. James mentions Caption Thomas Dugan in his petition and that his father is Robert Tucker and this page states that Robert Tucker was under Caption Thomas Dugan. “Researching James TUCKER, born 1759 in Halifax Co., NC; father was Robert Tucker. James served in the Rev War from Randolph Co., NC. By 1795 he settled in Jefferson Co., TN. Tuckertown, TN (now New Market) was founded by him. He established the James Tucker Publick House there in 1819, a favorite stage coach stop. The first non-Quaker religious service (Presbyterian) was held in the Tucker home in 1819 at Tuckertown. In 1802 his daughter Julia E. (Judith) married William SELVIDGE in Jefferson Co. By 1822 both the James Tucker and William Selvidge families were in Monroe Co., TN and both men lived there until their deaths. James Tucker was listed with his wife (name unknown) in the 1840 Monroe Co. Census. Known children are James Jr., Julia (Judith), Wiley. I have also came across a another Delilah Tucker listed in the Dobbs County, NC 1790 Census. Just speculation but perhaps Robert Tucker named his daughter after his mother, if this turns out to be his daughter?

“Researching James TUCKER, born 1759 in Halifax Co., NC; father was Robert Tucker. James served in the Rev War from Randolph Co., NC. By 1795 he settled in Jefferson Co., TN. Tuckertown, TN (now New Market) was founded by him. He established the James Tucker Publick House there in 1819, a favorite stage coach stop. The first non-Quaker religious service (Presbyterian) was held in the Tucker home in 1819 at Tuckertown. In 1802 his daughter Julia E. (Judith) married William SELVIDGE in Jefferson Co. By 1822 both the James Tucker and William Selvidge families were in Monroe Co., TN and both men lived there until their deaths. James Tucker was listed with his wife (name unknown) in the 1840 Monroe Co. Census. Known children are James Jr., Julia (Judith), Wiley. In the name of God Amen I Thomas Tucker Sen(?). of Edgecomb County in the Province of North Carolina Being in perfect Health and Memory thanks it be to God for it therefore Calling to mind the Mortality of my boddie(?) and Knowing that it is appointed for all men to Die do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament Principally and first of all I give my Soul into the hand of God that gave (??) and on Touching my Worldly Estate I give and bequeath in the following manner in Primis! I will that all my Just Debts be paid. Then I give to my Dearly Beloved wife Margaret the use of the Plantation Eheron I now live During her Life also I give her during her Life the use of all my Horses Cattle Hogs & Sheep also all my Household furniture. Then I give and Bequeth to my Son Thomas Tucker his(?) Hives and Ussige forever the Plantation Whereon I lived Containing Twenty five Acres more or less. I have also came across a another Delilah Tucker listed in the Dobbs County, NC 1790 Census. Just speculation but perhaps Robert Tucker named his daughter after his mother, if this turns out to be his daughter?
