This is my email correspondence to a relative and this is a good summary as to where we are pertaining to the Tucker line.
"The best we have come up with thus far is a Robert Tucker born around 1777 in North Carolina as John A. Tucker's father, mother unknown. It appears Robert was quite the pioneer as he left North Carolina into Tennessee and Kentucky, then on to Missouri. Each of these places it appears he stopped and settled for a time before moving on. He finally settled in Arkansas where he died. Doctor P. Tucker was one of his sons and the executor of his estate when Robert died. Through Y-DNA testing it is proved that the descendants of Doctor P. Tucker and John A. Tucker are all descended through the same person, Robert Tucker as each of those tested have the exact same ydna. The only other clue we have is that there are some other Tucker's from Florida that have the exact same ydna and they do not descend from Robert, rather they can trace their lineage back to a Thomas Tucker born in 1614 in England. Thomas came over to America in 1635 on the ship "The Globe" and lived in Virginia, at first as an indentured servant. Since the descendants of Thomas and Robert have the exact same ydna they are all either descended from Thomas Tucker or one of his brothers or Tucker first cousins as ydna is only passed down from father to son and virtually stays the exact same throughout time. There is also another Tucker from England who tests with the same ydna and he can trace his family back to the 1800's in Devon England. Obviously he does not descend from Thomas Tucker but somewhere way back all those with the same ydna have the same common ancestor. The other interesting thing is that one of John A. Tucker's sons (John Tucker I believe) was noted as saying he was "of French and Indian descent". Since our Robert Tucker's lineage ends in 1777 in North Carolina we have no idea as to where his family had originally came. The one that we do know is that Thomas Tucker who shares the same ydna came over from England in 1635. Having said that, no one knows anything about him prior to his birth so we have no way of knowing if his family was originally from England or migrated there from somewhere else. Back then families were so large there would have been multiple Tucker's of the same ydna and as they spread out could eventually be from different areas. Without knowing who John A. Tucker's mother is or Robert Tucker's parents we have no idea as to what those ancestors ethnicity is. I do know that John A.Tucker's wife, Lucinda has a line of Irish (the O'Kelly's). It also appears that Jesse Tucker's wife, Susan's line goes back to the Hardy's who go back to the Stanley's who go back to the Neville's that came from Joan DeBeafort the illegitimate daughter of Sir John of Gaunt, the son King Edward the III (from Edward the royal line goes back to William the Conqueror). This line is not 100% proven yet but interesting to say the least."
